Dr. Davis joins Memphis Medical Services FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Scotland County Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Jeff Davis to the list of family practice physicians and healthcare professionals that practice family medicine at Memphis Medical Services (MMS). Dr. Davis has been employed with the Northeast Missouri Health Council, Inc. in Memphis since July 2003 and as of July 19th, Dr. Davis will be accepting patients at Memphis Medical Services.

Scotland County Hospital is fortunate to retain Dr. Davis and his family in the community. His skills, coupled with his compassion and enthusiasm for practicing family medicine in a rural environment, makes this a benefit to the clinic and the community. Memphis Medical Services Medical Director, Dr. Bill Dixon said, “I’ll admit I encouraged him to join our medical staff at the clinic. We have similar backgrounds in training and we both did our residencies at Blessing.” Drs. Dixon and Davis represent the overall example of family medicine in a rural hospital. These doctors not only see patients in the clinics, they also care for patients in the hospital & nursing home, deliver babies and cover the Emergency Room.

Dr. Davis is eager to continue care to the patients he previously treated at the Northeast Missouri Health Council clinic. Patients will find this transition to be relatively seamless and to schedule an appointment with Dr. Davis, patients should call Memphis Medical Services at 660-465-2828. For those patients that qualify for the NMHC, Inc. Sliding Fee Schedule, Memphis Medical Services offers a sliding fee payment option, as well, and patients should inquire when scheduling their next appointment.

As family practice continues to grow at MMS, so will the building. That will be evident as patients enter the facility later this month. Major renovation and construction will begin to blend the former Health Council clinic to the current MMS clinic. Once the renovations are complete, patients and their families will enter the facility from the current entrance and be greeted by receptionists in one new and larger receptionist area. Patients will have plenty of seating in the renovated and combined waiting rooms of the former Health Council clinic and MMS clinic.

The Memphis Medical Services clinic will be newly organized in a hallway system (similar to a ‘pod’ system). One hallway will house the family practice physicians (Drs. Davis, Dixon, Cormier, McNabb & White), another hallway will house the clinic’s specialty physicians (Dr. Miller-Parish, General Surgery and Dr. Tobler, OB/GYN) and a third hallway will house the visiting specialty physicians. These specialty clinics include physicians that treat: Oncology & Hematology; Ear, Nose & Throat and Plastic Surgery; Cardiology, Podiatry; Rheumatology, Internal Medicine & Arthritis and General Surgery.

Scotland County Hospital CEO, Marcia Dial said, “It’s a pleasure to add Dr. Davis to the team of Family Practice physicians at Memphis Medical. He is an asset to the clinic, the hospital and the community. It would have been a shame for a doctor of his skill to leave the area and we believe it’s an asset to the patients to have him join the staff at Memphis Medical.”
